St. Olaf Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Saskatchewan Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC). ELCIC is the largest organized body of Canadian Lutherans with approximately 115, 000 baptized members in 520 congregations. We trace our roots as a confessing movement to the reformation of the catholic church initiated by Dr. Martin Luther in Germany in the 1500’s. The ELCIC is in full communion with the Anglican Church of Canada. (www.elcic.ca).
Common Questions:
What is worship like?
When you walk into St.Olaf you might be greeted by a greeter and an usher. Please take a seat in the sanctuary wherever you feel comfortable, there are no reserved seats. We follow a traditional liturgy that you can follow along with in the hymnal. We have a powerpoint on the wall that makes it easy to follow along with all prayers, liturgies and hymns. There are times the Pastor or worship leader will sing or speak and there are times that the congregation is invited to join in. Just before the sermon, the Pastors may offer a Children’s message, which is often a very useful message for people of all ages! We receive the Sacrament of communion every second week. All are welcome to receive the Sacrament.
What about my kids?
Worship and most other activities at St. Olaf are for people of all ages. Your kids are welcome to participate in our large group gatherings and worship, as well as in the special opportunities for them, such as Sunday School and Youth group.
Is the church wheelchair accessible?
Yes. We have a lift that can take you to the main floor with the sanctuary or to the basement. An usher can help you.
Our worship Services are Sunday mornings at 10:30 am.
The office hours are Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm
