Congratulations Pastor Linda, on your Retirement!
We wish we could throw the biggest party to send you off, but Covid has denied you and us that joy. We will put the celebration off for now! Today, Pastor Greg, Bishop Sid, and the rest of the congregation will honor you for your many years of service to our Parish and community. You have been such a big part of all our lives, we love you and will miss you!
World Day of Prayer Please join us for World Day of Prayer, a prayer movement that invites us to enrich our faith experience with the experience of Christians from other countries and cultures and to bring hope to women touched by injustice. This year the service was written by the World Day of Prayer Committee of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. People can access a video of the 2022 World Day of Prayer service anytime after February 1st - just go to www.wicc.org and look for "World Day of Prayer 2022 Service Video".
Vaccines for Everyone!
It has been said by several health authorities and health care professionals that we will not overcome Covid 19 until a large portion of the world population is vaccinated. In first world countries like Canada, Covid 19 vaccines are readily available and easy to access. In the developing countries of the world, this is not the case. “84% of all doses that have been administered so far have all gone to people in high and upper middle-income countries. And in comparison, looking at the percentage of doses that have been administered in low-income countries, it's a shockingly low 0.3%.” Raka Banerjee—The Development Podcast
UNICEF is a leader in the work to get Covid 19 vaccines to developing countries. The Church and Society/Stewardship Committee is encouraging our congregation to assist in their efforts. To donate you can go online to their website: https://secure.unicef.ca/page/86234/donate/1?locale=en-US Or donate to St. Olaf marked ‘vaccines’.
How many doses of vaccine will my donation deliver? The cost of delivering and administering the required two doses of COVID-19 vaccines is about $4.81 per recipient. That means:
a gift of $14.43 will vaccinate three people
a gift of $100 will vaccinate approximately 20 people
a gift of $1,000 will vaccinate more than 200 people
